Milender White (MW) performed a structural modification to the existing foundation of a 200-foot-high self-supporting lattice tower atop Horsetooth Mountain.
Due to stressing from collocating equipment, the foundation required the installation of 12 new 4-inch diameter rock anchors drilled to a depth of 20 feet. Because the quality of the subsurface rock was unknown at time of project award, MW installed and tested a sacrificial rock anchor to a load of 150,000 lbs. to verify rock strength and bond capabilities. We then installed the new rock anchors around the perimeter of the existing tower legs. All anchors were successfully installed to the correct depth, and the project was completed four days ahead of schedule.
