Milender White (MW), Meta Housing Corporation and Y&M Architects are teaming up to build 230 units of affordable housing in the South Bay, close to the 110 Freeway and less than 500 feet from Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and its Research Institute. This effort, currently called West Carson, represents MW’s fourth general contracting project for Meta and its first project with Y&M, Meta’s frequent collaborator.
Entirely residential, West Carson will rise six stories. The two-building project has seven levels; one of the two parking levels is below grade. The east exterior presents a red-white-and-gray façade accented by black-framed recessed balconies, while the west exterior has a black-white-and-gray façade including a four-story-high courtyard mural. Of the 230 units, 120 are two- and three-bedroom. Courtyards, murals, and a community center will be located within the E-shaped buildings.
Meta Housing has developed more than 100 senior, supportive, and affordable projects since its inception, and is known for its ability to leverage state and federal funding resources to create new housing that strengthens communities. MW looks forward to delivering West Carson for this esteemed developer.
